A Shark’s Eye View

   Ever want to see the underwater world from the eyes of the sea’s greatest predator?  Thanks to new technology, scientists are now able to do just that. The scientists at the University of Hawaii and University of Tokyo have attached cameras to a variety of different species of sharks to see exactly what the sharks see. The cameras are mounted to the shark’s pectoral fins. This is the first time that video footage has been retrieved in this way; previously, sensors were only used to detect the shark’s movement.  The new technology used allows the cameras to be tracked down through a VHF transmitter once the devices detach from the sharks.
