When Josiah Utsch, at 11 years old, realized the Chambered Nautilus was in danger of extinction, he was devastated. And he wanted to do something about it. After being unable to find a Nautilus organization or charity to donate his birthday money to, his mom wrote a letter for Josiah to Dr. Peter Ward, the professor of geological sciences at the University of Washington, asking if there were any organizations out there he could contact.
Dr. Ward told him there were none, but that he should start one. And that was how savethenautilus.com was started by Josiah.
