The decision to keep captive-bred or wild-caught fish is a decision all hobbyists should make. Most fresh water raised are captive raised. On the contrary, most marine fish are caught in the wild, with the exceptions of Clown fish, Damsel Fish and a few other exceptions. Technology now allows us to raise captive-bred fish that were never available before. Captive-bred fish take pressure off of wild stocks. Additionally, generally speaking captive-bred fish adapt better to aquarium captive environments because they have been raised on prepared diets. Captive-bred fish due come at a premium cost however and hobbyists have to be willing to pay these costs. Responsible Aquaculture Organizations like the Rising Tide Conservation Initiative  and ORA are doing a great job leading the way to further acquaculture in the marine aquarium hobby.      … More:
